Today school and work resumed - we woke up at 6.15 after a week of sleeping in, and remembered that the bus comes at 6.20 so we had a mad rush to get Lenny out the door with some semblence of lunch and uniform. No complaints from him at all, which is an excellent sign.
We've also moved back into the bedroom, because now the weather is cooler, people aren't using their air conditioners, so it is lovely and quiet.
I went for a walk, and on the way back I went past Harmony House. There was a woman dressed in white getting into her car, and we spoke. I told her I was interested in meditation, and she invited me in to the most beautiful, serene house - which is actually a meditation centre. I met the main man there, who was charming, and discovered that this is the Kuwait home for Brahma Kumaris, which has centres all over the world, including a number in Sydney. I'm planning to join their next course, and it's so convenient - just 2 doors up from us.
Then I went to a pilates class, held in yet another beautiful house - this time a private home - a met another bunch of expats - British, New Zealander, and Spanish and French I believe. So I'll be doing that twice a week. One woman I met does work with the British Ladies Society, which seems to be a large expat organisation that organises a lot of gatherings, socials, and other meetings. Their premises is near us as well, so I plan to go over there on Thursday morning when they open their library, and people hang around for coffee and a chat.
And tonight, I start rehearsals with the Ahmadi Singers, a large mainly expat choir, rehearsing for Christmas concerts. I'm really looking forward to that. I think there are about 60 members, so it should be pretty exciting.
Let the socialising begin!!!
