Yikes, I am a day behind schedule, apologies to my regular readers. My excuse is that we went to the apartment in the morning, and didn't leave all day, and we have no internet as yet.
So now, we are all in Starbucks with our computers, like desperate people starved of basic food and water.
Hightlight and lowlights of Friday moving day.
1. Movers scratched and broke some of our furniture - managed to break an entire glass door of a very nice cabinet. What can you do....
2. Furniture I bought, pretty much on spec, is pretty nice, though barely makes a mark on what we realise now is a huge apartment - we could practically live in the lounge and kitchen area alone. Good for dance parties (which we regularly host), great for big train tracks and the funny "hopeless' game that Papa and Lenny played in Tokyo. Excellent for riding bikes and kicking soccer balls up and down the hallway.
3. The buzz is back with a vengeance. I mean, it is like living next door to massive electricity towers that buzz incessantly. I can't stand it, had to get up and sleep on the couch in the living room, where it is less obvious - probably drowned out by Friday night traffic on the Gulf Road! So back to the drawing board on that one.
4. Met our neighbours - nice English family. And Rose, the maid for Madame Shakir downstairs, came around the change our light bulbs.
5. Alia and her husband Mohomed came to visit, which was very nice.
So we are off to Paris tomorrow, if we can get tickets, which is our job here today at the shopping mall.
PLease forgive tardy posts, while internet is sorted. I'll do my best to keep them coming regularly.
On moving in, not enough furniture to touch the sides of a place can be an very good, allows room for you to grow into the space, so you can find fabulous local things and they will fit, opulent rugs, make a cubby house of cushions .

Hope you are in Paris - I believe the weather is great there (well London has been amazing!).
Do hope you are having some fun and getting some sleep. Check out Paris for another visit in January. Won't be crowded then! lots of love,
Kate
